    Canon Character Section:
    History: http://lostgirl.wikia.com/wiki/Lauren_Lewis

    Personality:
Lauren is an incredibly private person, probably more so than anyone else in the series. Her business is her business, and nobody else's as far as she's concerned. The biggest instance of this is how she keeps the existence of Nadia a secret from everyone until well into Season 2. The whole reason why she starts working for the Ash is to try to help save Nadia but she never tells anyone that. She keeps it to herself as she continues to try to find a way to wake Nadia up from her coma. Another example is when she mentions going to Yale and working in Afghanistan Kenzi says she never knew those things about her before. Lauren's response is that she never asked. If you don't ask Lauren things she often won't volunteer information. This private nature of hers allows her to often cause lies of omission. She's rarely completely dishonest but she's often not saying the full story of a situation either. It's not until season 3 that we even learn her name isn't really Lauren. It's implied that there's still a lot of her we don't know about yet -- things she's keeping close to her chest for the time being

Lauren is incredibly loyal and is driven by a strong sense of duty. She'll do whatever she needs to in order to protect the ones she loves, even if it means lying to them or doing things that are less than morally right. She's willing to look like the bad guy if it means being able to do the right thing -- this is particularly seen in how she leads Bo and Dyson to think she's truly joined Dr. Taft. This is also seen by how she stays with the Light Fae and the Ash, even when she doesn't agree with everything they've done. This not only extends to her friends and loved ones but to her patients as well. She is an extremely dedicated Doctor and will do anything in her power to help those under her care -- she in fact only agrees to "help" Dr. Taft with his plan in the first place in order to help the Cabbit woman. She's traveled the world trying to help people, some of those places including Africa and Afghanistan. She takes the care giving part of being a doctor very seriously. She never wants to use her talents as a way to hurt people -- not if she can avoid doing so, anyways.

Lauren is incredibly intelligent having studied at Yale University. She runs into the Fae originally when she's working in Africa and after working with them she's found herself unable to go back to treating normal humans. She finds all the differences and nuances between different species of Fae to be a fascinating challenge, to say the least. She's constantly learning new things and has become a walking encyclopedia of Fae information. She tries to know as much as she can so she can help any sort of patient who might end up in her care. It's an useful endeavor, to say the very least. Not only is she she smart, but she's clever too. She tends to analyze a given situation carefully before finding the best way in which to approach it. Her sharp thinking has helped her out of more than one bad situation. The idea to give Dr. Taft Cabbit DNA instead of wolf DNA is one example of how she uses her cleverness to take back the power in a given situation. Her quick ability to find a cure or solution to a problem has helped save Bo and the others more than once.

In many ways, Lauren's become lost in the Fae world. She understands how they all work on an academic level, but she's not a part of them. She's not one of them. She'll never truly get what they've gone through. This is particularly seen in her relationship with Bo -- while she understands Bo needs to feed on other Fae and things like that to survive it's hard to truly grasp it and let go of the jealousy that comes of it. She's not Fae, she doesn't have to deal with these things herself. She's helpless to the things they do. She tries to keep up but it's hard.

There's probably a small part of her that was tempted by Dr. Taft's plan to crossbreed humans and Fae. She's tired of working for the Ash, of being used and having no freedom. After years of working in the Fae world she's just tired more than anything else. One can't really blame her for giving up, for wanting more out of life. She has no freedom, no say in her life. When she asks for time off to pursue a scientific project that perked her interest Hale rejected the proposal without giving it second thought. Of course she's going to get tired of that kind of control over her actions. Who wouldn't want their freedom back, eventually?

Because she's so professional Lauren often comes off cold and aloof when people first meet her -- she isn't always the best at making a good first impression. She isn't always the warmest of people at first, but the more she becomes comfortable with people the more she loosens up. She's far from uncaring, she's just a little more put together. She has a sense of humor though, it just tends to be the more subtle sort.

Though she tends to be calm and collected most of the time she can be provoked to anger sometimes. She takes betrayal very seriously as seen by how she slaps Tamsin when the other women rubs it in her face that she had kissed Bo. She's known to get jealous (even in situations when she knows she really shouldn't be) of Bo's other lovers, wishing she could be enough to satisfy her -- even though she knows that as a human that would be impossible. She still wishes it wasn't.

Powers/Abilties: None available. She’s human. Very smart but human.

    Prose Sample:

The last thing she remembers is finishing the procedure to give Dr. Taft the cabbit DNA. When she wakes up she's not in the prison she's been held in anymore. Instead she finds herself in this beautiful temple. A part of her is fascinated, immediately wanting to know more about it. She can feel that curious part of her perking up, wanting more information.

Soon enough people begin to speak, explaining the situation. They're here to pay off debt -- apparently. It sounds a little too good to be true and after years of working in the Fae world Lauren knows enough to know that if it sounds too good to be true? Then it probably is. There are probably things they haven't been told of yet. Which means she needs to keep on guard until she knows more (and even once she does know more, staying on guard is probably still a good idea). She's only human, and she has no idea what the rest of the population is like but she knows better than to assume they're all the same.

She looks through the room assignments, looking for familiar names. One of which makes her catch her breath as it gets stuck in her throat.

    "Bo."

Well, with that name and Dyson's on there as well she knows one thing -- she was right in her previous assumption, not everyone here is human. Good to know.

When she reads the job assignments she sees she's working in the medical center. She makes her way to the infirmary to check out the equipment. She doesn't like the idea of giving her services when she knows nothing about these "Agents" (continuing to work for the Ash after everything had been hard enough) but if there are people who are hurt or sick or in need of her help? Well she wants to help them.

It's the least she can do until she manages to find a way out, after all.
